RIYADH: The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has introduced an Accessibility Program to create an inclusive urban environment for people with disabilities. The initiative ensures easier mobility and participation in daily activities for both residents and visitors.

Ibrahim bin Muhammad Al-Sultan, CEO of RCRC, expressed gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support, emphasizing that the program aligns with Saudi leadership’s vision to empower people with disabilities and integrate them into society.

The program will enhance the quality of life in Riyadh, aiming to position the city as a global leader in universal accessibility. It aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Basic Law of Governance, which guarantees equal rights for all citizens, including those with disabilities.

A key feature of the initiative is an access code in Arabic and English, designed to meet the needs of various disabilities. The code will be gradually implemented across public and private sector buildings, beginning in early 2025. Compliance will be required for obtaining building permits and professional licenses from Riyadh Municipality.

This project supports the Kingdom's commitment to disability inclusion, which is demonstrated by the creation of the Authority for the Care of Persons with Disabilities, and is in line with Saudi Vision 2030's goal of making Riyadh a globally accessible metropolis.
